Everyone from Wakarusa, Indiana, remembers the infamous case of January Jacobs, a six-year-old, who was discovered dead in a ditch. Margot Davies who lived next-door, was the same age as January. Twenty years later, Margot is a journalist and has moved to the big city. But she's still haunted by January's death and the fact that his killer has never been caught. When Margot returns home to help care for her uncle with early-onset dementia, she feels like she's walked into a time capsule. When five-year-old from the next town over, goes missing under circumstances eerily similar to January's Margot vows to find Natalie and to solve January's murder.
