On the cusp of turning eighty, newly retired pharmacist Augusta Stern relocates to Rallentando Springs—an active senior community in southern Florida and  unexpectedly crosses paths with Irving Rivkin, the man who broke her heart sixty years earlier.

1920’s Brooklyn: as Augusta prepares for pharmacy college, she finds herself torn between her loyalty to her father, Solomon Stern, the trusted owner of the local pharmacy and her fascination with Great Aunt Esther, a healer that offers her own unconventional remedies.  She also has a complicated relationship with Irving, the pharmacy delivery boy.
